The Student Union has a significant budget to spend of student affairs. The budget committee decides how to allocate the Student Union budget to better serve Stuyvesant students. The money is used to support theater community, club, publications, and other student run activities. The budget committee consists of voting members: Budget Directors, SU President and Vice President, Chief of Staff, Club/Pub, Special Events, IT, Communications, Student Involvement, and all grade caucuses. To request funding, fill out a budget application.
Chief Financial Officer – The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) manages Student Union finances, ensures that funds are collected, and determines how much money is left to allocate to clubs, pubs, etc. The CFO chairs SU Budget Meetings where the money is actually allocated to school organizations.
Budget Director – Budget directors (3 positions) help the CFO in regulating Student Union finances. Throughout the year, they are assigned to clubs’ accounts and are present when money needs to be collected. They are also assigned to one grade during SING! season, and must keep track of all transactions and accounts. All three budget directors are required to attend SU Budget Meetings and take part in the process of allocating funds to organizations.
